Flower Arranging
Cultivating Wellness Through Art and Nature
Flower Arrangements Flower arranging plays a principal role in the movement to promote art and culture; a movement that builds honest interpersonal relationships and cultivates the spirit necessary to establish an artistically rich society. Mr. Okada understood that a simple flower arrangement encourages appreciation of all beautiful things. Furthermore, the effect of the vital energy emanated by the beauty of flowers has also drawn interest in the field of medical care. A variety of medical facilities have reported that physical and mental sufferings have been abated or improved through contact with flowers.
Mr. Okada once said, “We should not handle flowers too long. It takes away their vitality.” His arrangements were completed within two to three minutes and would last twice as long. He placed a flower in every room of his house, and believed flowers should be spread amongst all communities including schools, senior homes, and prisons. He enjoyed each day with an abundance of beautiful flowers in his life and took joy in sharing it with others.
“Those who deeply admire flowers
Their grace
Their beauty
Have hearts that must be
Equally as beautiful”
-Mr. Okada
